Description

This is an original commissioned painting of Prima Ballerina Jane Green with a little digital energy added in the background with a digital manipulation program. I tried to mimic the graceful movement of the ballerina in the graceful flow of blue energy surrounding her.

Jane Green Wenstrup, gorgeous and talented Principal Dancer with the Cincinnati Ballet Company who performed many years with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, has performed throughout the United States and Europe with the Pennsylvania Ballet Company, Playhouse in the Park, Cincinnati Opera & David McLain Dance Company. Upon retirement, she became Head of the Dance Department at Northern Kentucky University for 30 years. She has two sons, Zachary & Adam who, according to Jane, have no dancing abilities whatsoever (of course, that is only her opinion).

To use as reference for this detailed portrait, I had a forty-year-old low quality brochure photo, a newspaper clipping and an old paper photo of the ballerina's face to work from. With the help of Jane's expert description of technical ballet details, this very challenging painting was a fun project.
